Registering an International Trademark (Madrid System)

Applying for registration of International Trademark

Once you are satisfied that all the conditions are met, you may proceed with the submission of an application for registration of an international trademark.

Submission of application

You can submit the application for registration of international trademark (form ΜΜ2) in the English language, by hand / post, to the Intellectual  Property Section, as the appropriate Office of Origin, accompanied by the application ΜΜ18 in case where protection in the U.S.A. is requested.

It is noted that a relevant guide regarding the manner of completion of form MM2 is posted on the website of WIPO.

Furthermore, the filing fee of an international application depends on the number of selected contracting parties, the contracting parties (as the fee varies accordingly), the number of classes and whether the mark is in black and white or colour.

You can calculate the exact application cost (official fees, payable in Swiss Franc only), by using the relevant WIPO's Madrid fee calculator. It is understood that legal fees in relation to the submission of the application and any costs in relation to submission of replies to negative decisions of national offices to the trademark registration in the relevant countries, are not included.
