About Patent

By granting a patent, you acquire exclusive rights to use and exploit your invention and you may, under certain conditions, oppose to its unauthorised use by third parties.

Additionally, the rights over a patent constitute assets of your enterprise and may be sold or used for other commercial purposes for a fee.

You can protect your invention in the Republic of Cyprus by submitting a relevant application for granting a patent to the Intellectual Property Section. The protection granted under the law lasts for a maximum period of 20 years (which, in case of pharmaceutical or plant-protection products can be extended up to 25 years and in case of pediatric pharmaceutical products up to 25 years and 6 months).
