Orphan Works
An orphan work is a work for which none of its benefiiaries has been identified, or even if any of them has been identified, none can be located, despite the carrying out of a diligent search.
The use of orphan works is permitted, for the achievement of goals relating to their public interest's mission, provided that proper authorisation has been obtained from the beneficiary who has been identified and located, by the following organisations:
- libraries;
- educational institutions;
- museums;
- archives;
- film and audio heritage institutions; and
- public service broadcasting organisations,
that are established in the Republic of Cyprus and are accessible to the public.
